Nissan has unveiled the fourth-generation X-Trail crossover in its home market of Japan. It is clear that the model will go global and perhaps reach Russia in the future. But so far, only the debut date in the Land of the Rising Sun is known: Japanese dealers will offer the first cars to buyers on July 25.
The official press release is stingy with technical details, but it is certain that under the hood there will be a VC-Turbo – the world’s first engine with a variable compression ratio. Installed on the Infiniti QX50 since 2018, a 2.0-liter turbo four with this name develops 268 horsepower. and 380Nm.
At the same time, Nissan emphasizes that the X-Trail is an important milestone in the company’s electrification path, so the turbo engine here serves, among other things, to generate electricity as part of its own e-POWER system. This should provide “a powerful driving experience and unparalleled quietness while maintaining high fuel consumption,” says the press service.
In addition, all-wheel drive versions are equipped with the updated e-4ORCE system, which integrates all-wheel drive and control technologies. In theory, this should give the X-Trail excellent dynamics and handling.
The safety package includes: adaptive headlight, Safety Assist 360 system (cameras, radar and sonar to monitor the environment of the car by taking safety measures), ProPilot autopilot with the addition of Navi link and the functions of reading speed limits, braking assistance when cornering and automatic parking.
In terms of comfort, the X-Trail boasts this: a 10.8″ digital instrument panel, a 12.3″ display for media and navigation with voice control, a Bose Premium Sound System, a luggage compartment that has been described as “best in class” , and autonomous power supply with a power of up to 1.5 kW.
In Japan, for front-wheel drive versions, three trim levels are prepared (from 3.2 million yen, that is, about 1.3 million rubles) and four trim levels for all-wheel drive (from 3.5 million yen, or 1.4 million rubles ), one of which – with three rows of seats.
- In Russia, X-Trail is known for the previous generation – such cars were assembled at the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg. According to the latest data, this factory can return to work in September.
- “Driving” can now be viewed on RuTube.
The new generation e-4ORCE system should give the model excellent dynamics and controllability.
