Japan reduced the supply of passenger cars to Russia (one of the main categories of trade turnover between the two countries) by 19.6% in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year. reports TASS cites data from the Japanese Ministry of Finance.

In addition, automobile spare parts supplies to Russia decreased by 22.4% in May, while motorcycle supplies increased by 32%. Passenger cars account for 70% of all Japanese exports to the Russian Federation.

The department noted that in 2026 the sales volume will correspond to the average annual sales volume in 2015-2021. The market will gradually grow by 1% per year starting from 2027. Thus, by 2030 the Russian car market will reach 1.8 million cars per year, and by 2035 the sales volume will reach 1.9 million cars per year.
