Automobile expert Vladimir Sazhin speaks to the Public News Service commented A bill providing for deprivation of a driver’s license for up to one and a half years for driving a car with hidden plates. The expert recalled that today it is very difficult to identify such a machine in automatic mode.
“We are arguing again over the same things. We are now fined five thousand rubles for driving a car with hidden plates. But this was not an effective measure. <…> “Quickly identifying the owner is extremely difficult and can only be done manually; there is no such AI yet,” he explained.
He also stressed that penalties for driving with hidden plates should be introduced. The expert noted that many drivers hide their plates not only to avoid speeding tickets but also to avoid paying parking fees.
According to him, violators in parking lots need to be identified manually, for example, by VIN number.
