Rosatom company will sign an agreement with Norilsk Nickel, which will establish the production of cathode materials used in the production of electric car batteries in gigafactories. This was stated at SPIEF-2024 by Natalya Nikipelova, President of TVEL JSC (part of Rosatom).

It is stated that Rosatom is currently building two gigafactories in Kaliningrad and New Moscow. Nikipelova called on market participants and authorities to focus more on creating domestic platforms for cars and batteries for electric cars.

Before that, chairman of the economic committee of the Federation Council, Andrei Kutepov spoke with a proposal to create a domestic mass car platform for the production of sedans and crossovers.

“To develop the Russian automobile industry, it is necessary to study the possibility of targeted support for the creation of a Russian mass automobile platform for the production of C, D and E class sedans and SUVs, which requires large investments.” said.

According to Kutepov, the price of an automobile platform varies from 90 to 180 billion rubles.
