The State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI) plans to remove unnecessary cameras from Russian roads. In this respect reports RIA Novosti, citing the head of the department Mikhail Chernikov.
According to him, today about 29 thousand cameras are installed on the roads of the Russian Federation. Chernikov emphasized that the accident rate is significantly lower in these regions. However, he added that the traffic police take a strict approach to the rules regarding device installation.
“I am confident that we will be able not only to clear cameras that are not working effectively, but also to transfer them to areas where they are urgently needed, where accidents occur,” Chernikov said.
Starting from September 1 of this year, a law on new requirements for photo-video recording of violations on the roads will come into force in the Russian Federation. This is expected to halve the number of cameras on highways.
Before that Chernikov statedIt was stated that the list of drugs that are claimed to be prohibited to vehicle drivers is false information. “A fake product has appeared on the Internet,” says the head of the department. According to Chernikov, the list in question includes 74 medicinal substances, including those for the heart and allergies, the use of which allegedly impairs driving. The head of the traffic police personally called the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, and discussed a topic that resonated. In conclusion, Chernikov noted that there is no point in relying on this list.
