Alexander Makarov, head of the capital’s taxi drivers’ unions, told Readovka that the cost of travel will increase after the new taxis law is passed.
“The draft law on taxis, submitted to the State Duma a month and a half ago, will put all drivers in the status of self-employed and force them to work for a collector. In this regard, collectors are likely to close under new conditions to register drivers and pay a fixed salary. But this scenario is highly unlikely. No one will be allowed to become a monopolist, but the cost of travel will certainly increase, ”explained Alexander Makarov.
According to the head of the capital’s unions of taxi drivers, today the lessors give cars and orders only to drivers. And since they don’t pay for fuel and don’t comply with labor laws, it’s beneficial for them to keep things as they are. The new taxi law will put businesses in line, but the cost of travel will increase as a result.
Previously reportedHe said that a new taxi aggregator SwiftDrive, which will replace the Gett service, will appear in Russia. According to the plans, the company wants to take 12% to 15% of the market.
