As experts from Yandex Rent found out, about 69% of Moscow residents spend 1-2 hours or more on the way to work or study. That is, every day they spend 2 to 4 hours or more on the road.
“Half of them see this as a problem and would like to reduce the time they spend on the road. At the same time, 61% of Muscovites are unwilling to change their residence for this,” Izvestia quotes the researchers as saying.
It would be possible to change homes, which isn’t much of a problem when renting, but often renting an apartment near work turns out to be more expensive than in a remote residential area, say 25% of respondents . Another quarter (24%) explain long journeys to work only by saying that all possible routes are simply inconvenient. At the same time, 18% of people don’t want to be bothered by moving, and 15% leave the family for the whole week until the weekend.
Forty percent of respondents love their neighborhood and don’t want to leave it. On the contrary, 40% would also like to change their place of residence and 21% would have moved to another city altogether.
