Some ways to cheer up while driving that drivers often resort to are actually ineffective. Nutritionist and therapist Antonina Savolyuk talked about this in a conversation with the socialbites.ca correspondent.
“Riders often feel tired and begin to turn to sweets: fast carbohydrates stimulate the nervous system and provide an exciting effect. However, the increase in strength and improvement in mood takes literally 3-5 minutes. Sweets quickly acidify the internal environment of the body, as a result of which the brain works worse. “So, in 5 minutes, you will be even more shy than before,” the doctor warned.
The nutritionist added that coffee has the same opposite effect. At first, caffeine excites the nervous system, and after 15-20 minutes the driver begins to feel even more drowsy, and the reaction speed also decreases. Energy drinks have a similar effect on the body.
“Energy drinks also only mask fatigue. They contain large amounts of sugar and caffeine, which provide short-term emotional support. “Due to regular consumption of energy drinks, the body gets used to artificial invigoration and then stops producing enough neurotransmitters and hormones to independently maintain a cheerful state,” Savolyuk added.
