Corrosion wears out the metal in the rear part of the car body most quickly, said Yaroslav Kukarin, head of body repair in the Fit Service network, in an interview with socialbites.ca.
“The rear of the vehicle is the part most susceptible to corrosion: the spare wheel well on the ground side, the wheel arches, the rear mounting point of the subframe or suspension. This is because sand, reagents, water and dirt fly into the rear elements while the vehicle is in motion,” said Kukarin.
Thresholds also suffer great damage during the operation of the car. On most new cars they are covered with special plastic covers. When creating modern car models, engineers do not take into account that dirt and sand accumulate under them in raw form and remain there for a long time. The expert explained that these places started to rust very quickly for this reason.
The middle of the car is better protected, so moisture and sand rarely get there. The automobile expert explained that the front part of the car suffered the least damage, especially in the engine compartment area, where it is warmer and the sandblasting effect on the metal does not occur.
