Klim Baykov, a racer from Kirov, for several years transformed a standard Zhiguli into a full-fledged racing car. with the project met “Engine”.

On the standard “five”, Baikov first replaced the standard rear axle with a Volvo 240 axle with Sellholm locking, and later with a Wisefab five-link axle. To do this, he had to integrate the rear side members into the chassis and part of the floor from BMW into the body. According to Baikov, the suspension remains the same as the production Zhiguli, but has actually been redesigned. The machine’s interchangeable arms are machined from aluminum billets and the subframe is welded from durable steel tubes.

Öhlins shock absorbers and front anti-roll bar were produced specifically for the car. The sedan is also equipped with sports “short” rack, power steering and Alcon front brakes from the Peugeot 208 R2 rally, the publication noted.

Baikov left the engine standard for the car – a sixteen-valve VAZ-21126 paired with a Beckert transmission from Lada Priora. The engine was built by Tolyatti engineer Dmitry Bragin. With a volume of 1.6 liters, it develops power of approximately 180 horsepower.
