Following the heavy loads experienced at existing fuel stations on the M-12 Vostok highway during the New Year’s holiday, the construction of new fuel stations will be accelerated. socialbites.ca was informed about this by the state company Avtodor. He also noted that during the construction of the road from Moscow to Kazan, they took into account the experience of the M-11 highway, where queues for kilometers at gas stations formed even on holidays.

“There are currently 18 multifunctional zones (MFZ) and 4 container gas stations on the M-12 Vostok highway. In total, it is planned to place 32 MFZs; “Construction and installation work at the under-construction MFZs will be accelerated following peak loads at existing petrol stations during the New Year holidays,” he said.

According to the company, during the New Year holidays, queues were observed at gas stations located near the middle of the road in the Murom and Arzamas region (313 km, 421 km) and at gas stations at the entrance to Moscow (53 km).

“The peak load occurred at the stations due to the failure to improve the processes of the new station teams, which opened less than a month ago, and the unreasonable behavior of the users, the majority of whom left their vehicles at the pump while waiting for additional service at the fuel stations. With this approach, the queues are increasing like an avalanche. The most effective way to use the gas station during such queues is to drive the vehicle to the parking lot immediately after refueling and return to the gas station building for additional services,” said Avtodor.

While building the infrastructure of the M-12, the company moved from Moscow to St. Petersburg in order not to repeat old problems – the lack of gas stations. He assured that they took into account the experience of the M-11 highway to St. Petersburg.

“The situation on M-11 was not so optimistic. Past experiences were taken into account. Avtodor noted that currently M-11 operates almost the same number of gas stations as M-12.

The other day, there was information in the media that traffic jams occurred on some sections of the M-12 federal highway due to queues at gas stations.
Traffic on the highway from Moscow to Kazan was fully resumed at the end of December 2023. The 810 km long route passes through the territory of five regions of the country: Moscow, Vladimir and Nizhny Novgorod regions, Chuvash Republic and the Republic of Tatarstan. In November 2023, the government approved the decision to extend the highway to Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk and Tyumen.
