As part of its collaboration with Toyota, Suzuki did not allow the iconic Suzuki Jimny SUV to be produced under the Toyota brand. In this respect reports Autocar India, citing its source.

“This is like asking Toyota to let us ‘badge engineer’ the Land Cruiser. “The models that form the basis of our brand are not intended to be used together, and both companies respect this.”

As part of the collaboration between Suzuki and Toyota, many models manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in India are currently sold under both brands. These are Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza, Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Rumion, as well as Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. But Suzuki did not want to provide the Swift and Jimny models for “badge engineering” (production of a car under a different brand with a change of emblem and name – socialbites.ca).

“Toyota wanted the ‘engineering badge’ for the Jimny and Swift but we politely declined,” a Suzuki source said.

It was previously known in Russia will start Sale of Moskvich 6 in new configuration.
