By the end of 2023, most independent car service stations (STOs) have increased the prices of their services by 25%. In this respect report Izvestia cites Peter Shkumatov, a member of the Public Council of the Moscow Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
“Car repair services increased by 25%. The reason for this is staff shortage. They are increasing the cost of standard working hours to fight for service station workers. “The demand for car repair services has increased as the number of old cars increases and they need more frequent maintenance,” Shkumatov said.
This year, due to staff shortages, service stations began to actively alienate employees from each other. At the same time, the auto expert also emphasized that today there are no prerequisites for the appearance of the missing hundred thousand highly skilled mechanics in 2024, so the struggle for personnel will continue, including for the ruble.
It happened before that knownThat in 2023 Russian motorists begin to save more actively on car repairs and fuel. Russians increasingly began to prefer analogues instead of original spare parts. Drivers use their vehicles less to save fuel and preserve the life of their vehicles. Thus, the dynamics of the average daily mileage decreased by 3% compared to pre-Covid 2019 and pre-crisis.
Also in 2023, drivers began repairing their cars themselves more often. Although in the previous six years the share of self-repairs had decreased in favor of auto services, this year there was a sharp jump.
