The Ukrainian economy suffered a loss of more than 1 billion Euros because Polish truckers prevented passage through the checkpoint on the border of the two countries. This was stated by Vladimir Balin, vice president of the International Association of Road Carriers of Ukraine, Ukrinform agency reported.
“Due to this strike, the state economy lost more than 1 billion euros,” Balin said.
At the same time, he noted that the Polish economy suffered even greater losses due to the border closure.
According to Balin, one day of idle time of a truck at the border checkpoint costs Ukraine about 300-350 euros. Therefore, drivers try to reduce the damage by, for example, sending their cars abroad via other countries.
The other day Polish carriers again blocked Trucks pass through the Dorohusk-Yagodin checkpoint on the Ukrainian border. All this time, three other checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border also remained closed: Medyka-Shegini, Rava-Ruska-Hrebiene and Krakovets-Korcheva.
