Motorinvest company, which produces the Evolute electric car, was subject to US sanctions. In this respect reports interfax.ru, citing the US Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Motorinvest signed a special investment agreement (SPIC 2.0) for automobile production with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Lipetsk Region in spring 2022. The enterprise can produce up to 100 thousand cars per year. It is planned to invest 13 billion rubles in production over the 11 years of the contract.
The company currently produces electric sedans and crossovers from China’s Dongfeng under the local Evolute brand. In mid-November, production of the Evolute i-Sky crossover (in China – Dongfeng Forthing Thunder) started here. In the future, the Motorinvest plant will start production of the D-class hybrid crossover.
According to the Autostat analytical agency, about 30 car models from China were launched in Russia in the first half of 2023, and more than 60 car models were launched in the second half. They will go on sale in the Russian car market in 2024 will appear 30 to 45 new new models of Chinese brands.
