In Moscow, a local resident who approached the police with a complaint about the theft of a car he sold to avoid paying a fine was detained. In this respect reported Ministry of Internal Affairs is in the city centre.

A 47-year-old man contacted the police about the theft of his Lada car worth 160 thousand rubles. He said he parked the car on Steelworkers Street and later realized it was missing.

The police checked and found that there was no theft. It turned out that the man sold the car in 2021 but did not delete the registration. Shortly after the sale, he began receiving numerous receipts for payment of fines for traffic violations. To avoid paying a fine, he decided to write a statement to the police.

A criminal case was initiated in accordance with Art. 306 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Knowingly false reporting.” The suspect was released on his own request.
