In Russia, they plan to limit the validity of foreign driver’s licenses to six months if the driver obtains a residence permit or Russian citizenship. This has been reported TASS Referring to draft amendments to the road safety law.

The document attached to the bill states: “The following provisions are foreseen: invalidation of foreign driver’s licenses after six months from the date of receipt by the holder of a residence permit or passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation”.

The changes also stipulate that the exchange of foreign driver’s licenses in categories C, D, CE and DE and subcategories C1E and D1E will only be possible after retraining.

According to the agency’s source, the document has already been approved at a government meeting and will be submitted to the State Duma.
