State Duma deputy Yevgeny Fedorov suggested banning insurers from issuing OSAGO if they do not have an agreement with a gas station (STO), RT reports, citing a letter addressed to Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev.

The deputy notes that according to the law, in the event of an insured event, citizens under the OSAGO policy are entitled to compensation in the form of repairs or payments, but insurers sometimes cannot entitle the customer to receive insurance compensation in the form of repairs.

Those companies that do not have agreements with gas stations book cash reimbursements in advance in the OSAGO policy, and customers often only find out about this after an accident.

Therefore, he is requesting the Department of Transportation to introduce a ban on insurance companies issuing OSAGO policies if they do not have contracts with gas stations and cannot offer customers a choice of insurance services.
