An advert for Toyota pickup trucks has been banned on environmental grounds by the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) because the advert featured cars driving along a riverbed. In this respect reports TASS with reference to Financial Times (FT).
In the advertisement, it is stated that Toyota Hilux cars move one after another across the plain, crossing the river bed and hitting the road. The ASA assessed that the ad depicted driving through natural ecosystems without taking into account the negative impact on the environment.
Toyota Motor explained that the ad merely demonstrated the car’s capabilities and that no reasonable viewer would perceive the video as a call to drive irresponsibly in rural areas and harm the environment.
