In Novosibirsk, the traffic police outline the power of the internal combustion engine and electric motor when registering hybrid cars, so drivers have to pay increased transport tax for cars, reports ngs.ru.
In particular, city resident Andrei Zmeikov, who registered the hybrid Toyota Prius, complained that the traffic police documents for the car showed a power of 169.9 hp, which would require a transport tax of 8.5 thousand rubles. Moreover, the car is equipped with a gasoline engine with a capacity of 98 hp, and with this power the tax per vehicle is less than 1 thousand rubles.
The regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told the publication that they summarized the power indicators of gasoline and electric engines in accordance with the statements of the Russian Ministry of Finance, supported by the Supreme Court.
“Regardless of the order of direct participation in the movement of the engines – sequential, parallel, joint, separate – according to the statements of the Ministry of Finance of Russia, the total maximum power of the electric motor and the internal combustion engine for 30 minutes must be taken into account,” he said.
Police added that if the gasoline engine is used only as a generator, the documents only state the power of the electric motor.
It was previously known that dealers denied New Year’s discounts on cars.
