The fact that the car has been in a serious accident may be indicated by creaks in the cabin, headlights with varying degrees of fog and uneven gaps in the body elements. Deputy Chairman of the National Automobile Union (NAU) Jan Heitzer told socialbites.ca about this. The buyer should also pay attention to the attachment bolts and seat belts.

“One of the non-obvious signs of a car after a serious accident is a strong creak of interior trim elements during the trip. This occurs when the car is completely disassembled for restoration after an accident. This may also indicate that the car could be assembled from two or three broken parts using whatever we had on hand. Similar cars still come to us from Lithuania,” said Jan Heitzer.

The automobile expert noted that you can understand that the vehicle has had an accident by looking at the headlights. If one of them has blur on its plastic cover, and the second does not, most likely there is a car in front of you after an accident. Another sign is irregular gaps at the joints of the body elements. This occurs on newly assembled domestic cars. However, this is an extreme case.

Fresh paint or overly polished body parts may also indicate that the car was in an accident and was later repainted. This is determined using a thickness gauge.

After a serious impact, body parts are removed for replacement. It is worth examining the bolts that fasten the wings, doors and other elements. The paint here should not be damaged, scratched or abraded. It is also worth paying attention to seat belts. It has stripes indicating the year of production. The expert noted that if the car’s production date does not match, the original seat belts may have been broken as a result of an accident.
