You can combat static electricity that accumulates in the vehicle body and may disturb the driver and passengers by grounding the body or treating the seat surfaces. Jan Heitzer, deputy chairman of the National Automobile Association, told socialbites.ca.

“When the seat upholstery is fabric rather than leather, the problem of static electricity accumulation occurs. In this case, their surface can be treated with an antistatic aerosol. There are specific products for cars that are different from those used in clothing,” Heitzer said.

According to him, you can also prevent the accumulation of static electricity by grounding the body of the car using a special rubber part with a metal core. Similar “lightning rods” installed on the bumper of the car were popular with motorists in the past, the expert added.
