Mercedes-Benz will recall nearly a million vehicles worldwide due to possible braking problems, the DPA agency reported, citing Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Office.
The recall will affect ML, GL and R-class models produced between 2004 and 2015. Germany alone accounts for nearly 70,000 vehicles.
The problem is that corrosion of the brake booster can lead to a failure in the connection between the brake pedal and the brake system. “As a result, the brakes could fail,” the Federal Office said.
However, at the beginning of March, Mercedes-Benz left the Russian market. The car group froze the production of cars, as well as deliveries from abroad. As Kommersant found out, car owners in Russia may need to contact the brand’s representative offices abroad.
Our dealers will not be able to work on the remaining parts, this problem has not only affected the German brand. However, according to the market, the manufacturer is reinsured and it is not worth urgently going somewhere and repairing the car. Modern cars have multiple braking circuits, so fluid leakage is certainly not very pleasant, but not critical, although the brakes will be less efficient. Therefore, it is advised to go into this situation if the driver notices a deterioration.
The recalled models accounted for about 20% of all Mercedes-Benz sales in Russia.
