The danger of low octane fuel is explosion, which leads to overheating of engine parts, failure of the cylinder head gasket and destruction of the baffles between the piston rings.
The power unit must be sorted out, while spending as much money as you can not save on gasoline in a few decades (with a difference in the price of a liter of AI-92 and AI-95 from 4-5 rubles).
Expert “Behind the wheel” Alexander Vinogradov points to the Renault H5H engine. This is a 1.3-liter turbo engine with a power of 150 hp, which is installed on three crossovers of the brand: Duster, Kaptur and Arkana. The first Arcana with this engine was recommended to be filled with 95th gasoline only. But later the unit was adapted for the 92nd gasoline, which our expert still does not recommend to drive all the time.
It is better to use low-octane fuel only periodically and only when driving slowly. With a turbine and direct injection, the requirement for an octane number is always higher. It can be reduced to some extent, but it will not become a full-fledged replacement for the AI-92 – the risk of detonation during active and assertive driving will always remain.
In addition, the expert notes that the Renault H5H engine is initially very economical. Driving on 92 instead of 95 does not result in additional savings on fuel costs. You just don’t notice the difference.
