Toyota Motor will fully restart production in Japan on October 26 following disruption caused by an explosion at a parts supplier’s factory. In this respect reports Kyodo agency.
The explosion occurred on October 16 at the Chuo Spring factory, which produces suspension springs in Toyota city in Aichi Prefecture. Toyota has shut down 13 lines in eight of its 14 assembly plants in the country due to disruption in parts supply.
The closed factories also produce RAV4 and Land Cruiser SUVs. On October 21, Chuo Spring announced that it had resumed operations after repairing its equipment. Five Toyota factories will restart operations in central Japan on Tuesday, with the last one on Thursday.
Production at all of the company’s 14 factories in Japan was halted in March last year after one of its suppliers suffered a cyber attack. In August this year, production was stopped again due to a glitch in the parts ordering system.
