Media: Toyota stops work on 10 lines in six of 14 factories in Japan

By agency KyodoToyota has temporarily suspended work on ten lines at six of its fourteen factories in Japan. The closure was caused by a disruption in the supply of parts, especially springs, following an explosion at a facility in Fujioka on Monday.

The decision on the possibility of continuing work at the factories will be made on Tuesday evening.

Toyota automaker has 28 production lines in 14 factories in Japan.

Previously Japanese Toyota Corolla accepted global bestseller title. In August 2023, the Tesla Model Y crossover became the world’s best-seller, with sales of 758.6 thousand electric vehicles (this figure increased by +76.7% compared to August last year). While Toyota Corolla ranked second, its sales decreased by 3.4% to 711.8 thousand units. Ford F Series (595.7 thousand units; +18.6%) took third place.

The most popular car brands among Russians in 2023 there was Russian Lada, Korean Kia and Japanese Toyota.
