While the number of luxury cars in Russia exceeded 19.8 thousand at the end of 2022, it reached 16.2 thousand in 2021. In 2019, 8.1 thousand people owned this type of car. It follows that the number of luxury cars has increased 2.5 times in four years.
It is stated that tax fees on luxury cars are also increasing: last year they increased by 31% to 3.34 billion rubles. The average amount of tax to be paid for 2022 was approximately 169 thousand rubles.
Russian Federal Tax Service in April 2023 published A list of car models that cost over 10 million rubles and whose owners will have to pay an increased transport tax (the so-called luxury tax).
The list includes 449 cars, including Audi A8, Bentley Continental GT, BMW i8, Ferrari Roma, Maserati Qattroporte, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Porsche Panamera, Rolls-Royce Phantom and others. In 2022, there were 345 cars on record. Thus, 104 more cars were included in the updated list.
