Lithuania plans to seize Russian cars at the border

Lithuanian customs authorities will seize Russian registered cars entering the country, in accordance with the latest interpretation of the European Commission on the implementation of sanctions against the Russian Federation. In this respect reports TASS regarding Agne Bilotaite, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Baltic Republic.

“Anyone who crosses the border, whether a Russian or EU citizen, with a license plate registered in Russia and without documents confirming that he is traveling in transit to Kaliningrad, should know that his car will be confiscated,” Bilotaite said.

It was noted that an exception will be made if there are documents confirming that the vehicle owner is traveling to Kaliningrad in transit.

On September 10, the European Union banned Russian imports of personal cars, smartphones and cosmetics, as they were considered imports. Also subject to restrictions are trailers and semi-trailers for the transportation of precious stones, toilet paper, shampoos, toothpastes, goods, yachts and cameras.
