Paris authorities have decided not to renew contracts with the three private operators that rent electric scooters. Thus, the capital of France became the first European city to ban the use of electric scooters. After maintenance and repair, some scooters will go to other cities of the republic, and some to Germany, Poland, Great Britain and Israel
The decision to ban electric scooters in Paris is based on a city referendum. More than 100,000 Paris residents took part in the vote. 90 percent of those who participated in the April 2 referendum voted for the ban.
In 2022, 400,000 electric scooter rides were made in Paris. At the same time, 459 people were injured in accidents involving “motorized personal vehicles”.
