A large number of fake auto parts can be found on the car market in Russia, but often attackers use fake technical fluids and suspension elements. Aleksey Ruzanov, technical director of the Fit Service international vehicle services network, told socialbites.ca.
“A quarter of all technical fluids and spare parts sold on the Russian market are fake. These are mainly motor oils and antifreezes from well-known manufacturers. Recently, the number of fake suspension parts such as ball joints and tie rods has increased. It is probably easier to organize the production of such crafts,” said Alexey Ruzanov.
Installing counterfeit parts or using counterfeit fluids can cause your vehicle to malfunction. For example, fake antifreeze in the radiator quickly crystallizes, turns into liquid porridge and ceases to perform its functions. This leads to overheating and, as a result, a major overhaul of the engine. The specialist explained that it is very difficult to wash off such a composition.
“It is extremely difficult for an ordinary buyer to determine which spare part or technical fluid he has purchased. Attackers deftly imitate packaging manufacturers or choose to “impersonate” when the logo resembles a well-known brand. If you buy a part online, you won’t be able to see the packaging until you receive it. It would not be superfluous to ask for a certificate, so as not to buy fakes, ”advised Ruzanov.
