The construction of the federal highway M-12 from Moscow to Kazan is almost completed. This was reported by TASS with reference to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

“We completed it by sliding the bridge across the Volga. Literally, today we opened with the company Avtodor, the builders. This is a very important event. So now we are connected to the entire M-12 highway from Moscow to Kazan. All that’s left is to lay the asphalt,” said Khusnullin.

According to him, the route will be fully completed on 20 December. Traffic on the part of the road to Arzamas will be opened on September 5th. Also in 2024 the M-12 motorway will be extended to Yekaterinburg, in 2025 to Tyumen.

In July 2020, the Russian government decided to build the M-12 Vostok highway with a total length of 810 km. The road should connect 17 major regional centers and carry freight traffic outside of residential areas.
