The Ministry of Industry and Trade has given automakers until June to decide whether to leave or stay in Russia. The country cannot be kept in limbo, Denis Manturov, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said earlier.

June is just around the corner and manufacturers are starting to make announcements one by one. Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida recently said that activities in Russia and Ukraine have been suspended for a year. As for the plant in Russia, he did not specify, but probably the same applies to the production of cars at the company.

In the next communication with journalists, Denis Manturov noted that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will discuss with Nissan the further activities of the company’s plant in Russia in connection with the suspension of production for a long time.

“We will make a separate decision for each car manufacturer. We simply put a lot of time into closing the deal with Renault, we worked hard on it for weeks. Let’s continue to work systematically, I mean those companies that make decisions for a longer period of time to stop the company, for example the same Nissan – until March next year. We are going to meet them first’, says the minister.

Recall that the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg has suspended operations since March 14 due to interruptions in the supply of components.
