Volkswagen has patented a technology that involves moving the turn signal buttons to the steering wheel. In this respect informs CarBuzz quoting a patent application.
Volkswagen proposes installing switches, which can be physical or tactile, on the inside of the steering wheel. Primary controls are on the left side of the steering wheel and secondary controls are on the right.
Thus, the driver can select an option with the buttons on the left (eg headlights) and then select one of the driver action options (turn on the fog lights or high beams) with the buttons on the right. The same switches may be responsible for controlling the multimedia system and other machine functions.
The German company believes the new technology will make driving safer, as the driver doesn’t have to take their hands off the wheel. In addition, Volkswagen will be able to combine controls in this way and save on the development and production of derailleurs for each new model.
