In the next two months, the cost of auto parts on the Russian market will increase by 5-10% depending on the location. This was told to socialbites.ca by Jan Haytseer, vice president of the National Automobile Association. According to him, if the ruble strengthens, prices will not change.
“About 90% of auto parts are imported in the Russian market and their costs are fixed at the exchange rate. Due to the recent strengthening of the dollar and euro against the ruble, suppliers are forced to adjust their price tags upwards. We can expect 5-10 percent increase in spare parts prices in the next 1-2 months. Small firms respond most quickly to the situation – they often do not have a margin of financial strength. If the Ruble exchange rate strengthens, prices may fall, but this is highly unlikely,” Jan Heitzeer said.
