Inhalation of exhaust gases by a driver in a traffic jam can lead to oncology, diseases of the cardiovascular and nervous system, as well as skin problems. Anastasia Kosyakova, an oncologist at the Medsi Clinical Hospital in Botkinsky Proyezd, spoke about this in an interview with socialbites.ca. She stressed that the risks increase significantly with the windows of the car open.
“People are most harmed by exhaust gases in traffic jams. In the summer, drivers aggravate the situation by opening the windows, because a person breathes carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, aldehydes, sulfur dioxide, soot, benzopyrene along with oxygen. These substances accumulating in the body can cause serious diseases. The incidence of cancer in humans is increasing. “There are risks of developing lung cancer,” said Anastasia Kosyakova.
According to the doctor, inhalation of exhaust gases can also lead to problems with the cardiovascular system and cause the development of shortness of breath, dizziness, angina pectoris, as well as myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis and thrombosis.
“With the effect of constant exhaustion on a person from the nervous system, weakness, irritability and sleep disturbance occur. The skin and eyes also suffer: dermatitis and conjunctivitis may develop, ”the expert emphasized.
Air conditioning helps reduce the harmful effects of exhaust on the driver’s body. You also need to diversify the menu with antioxidants found in berries, fruits, vegetables and green tea. The doctor said you should drink more water as it promotes detoxification.
Earlier, neurologist Sergei Knyazkov in an interview with socialbites.ca declarationthat sustained driving by drivers with musculoskeletal problems can lead to paralysis.
