Police began chasing the Toyota Prius driver, who made dangerous maneuvers on the road and ignored the stop warning. In one of the districts of the city, residents of the neighborhood decided to help the traffic inspectors by blocking the road with their cars and getting in front of the violator, but the careless driver crashed into one of the cars and hit a pedestrian.
Later, the police found an abandoned Toyota in the bushes 7 km from the city, and the driver and passenger were found on the banks of the Kostroma River. Noticing the police, the man jumped into the river. And the traffic police inspector, running after him, jumped into the water and detained the criminal on the opposite shore, together with his colleagues who came to the rescue.
The violator turned out to be a 39-year-old Kostroma, who refused to take the sobriety test. He was previously tried for drunk driving and his duty was revoked. In court, the man denied all the accusations, saying that he had never driven a car or fished that day. Likhach was arrested and fined for 14 days for disobeying police officers, the issue of the penalty for drunk driving without a license is being decided.
