In two weeks, the company will reduce the number of shifts in the production of the ID.4 crossover and ID.7 sedan. In addition, Volkswagen has increased the corporate holiday period from two weeks to three and announced that about 300 of the 1.5 thousand temporary employees of the Emden plant will be leaving from August.

According to Manfred Wulff, Chairman of the company’s Business Council, such measures are due to a drop in demand, which turned out to be 30% less than expected. The production schedule of internal combustion engine vehicles like the Passat has not changed.
