Pilot production of AvtoVAZ will resume production of small-scale and commercial Lada vehicles. In this respect informs Publicly available “Atypical AvtoVAZ” on the social network “VKontakte”.
It was noted that the assembly of VIS semi-flat trucks will be transferred to the workshops of the production site, which was closed in 2016.
Pilot production began operating in 1986, was engaged in the development of technologies for the production of new Lada models. This production included a full-fledged assembly line designed to produce 15 thousand cars per year, and the staff exceeded 2 thousand people. In particular, the division produced long Niva VAZ-2129 and VAZ-2131, minivans VAZ-2120 Nadezhda.
In December 2015, Bo Andersson, then head of AvtoVAZ, declared that pilot production was unprofitable and closed it. The buildings were used as warehouses.
Previously reportedIt has been reported that a memorandum of cooperation on the production of light commercial vehicles in Azerbaijan was signed between Sollers and Azermash companies. The agreement provides for the organization of the production of Sollers light commercial vehicles at the facilities of the Azermash enterprise using components imported from Russia. It is not known which models are planned to be produced in the neighboring country.
