Driving with a fever or high blood pressure can cause an accident. Ekaterina Mikheeva, a therapist at the Medsi clinic on Leninsky Prospekt, spoke about this in an interview with socialbites.ca. According to the expert, people who snore should not drive.
“Fever changes the function of all organ systems. Especially with every degree of temperature increase, the rate of heart contractions increases by 8-10 beats per minute, heart rhythm disorders and vasospasm occur. This reduces the concentration of attention and the speed of reactions while driving,” said Ekaterina Mikheeva.
Driving with high blood pressure (BP) is also not recommended. If the blood pressure is above 140/90 mm Hg, symptoms such as headache, dizziness and nausea occur. The doctor noted that the driver had become disassembled and could lose consciousness.
Snoring is also an alarming symptom for the driver. It indicates that the body is not recovering properly during the slow phase of sleep. Ekaterina Mikheeva said that this can cause loss of concentration while driving and the risk of an accident.
If there is numbness in the limbs or face of the driver, the journey should also be abandoned. Such a situation may be a sign of the failure of the regulatory systems of the body, which are responsible for the perception of incoming information. The expert warned that not being able to brake hard, get off the road or feel the microclimate change in the car can lead to fatal events.
Former therapist Daria Bayutina said “Gazete.ru” that improper use of air conditioning in a car can lead to legionellosis and tonsillitis.
