“The system of charging stations is created only in the country, there are not enough even in the cities. There are also not enough on the tracks, there are areas where they practically disappear. <…> But as they say, we are in the process of growth,” said Morzharetto.
His opinion was shared by Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of the magazine “Behind the Wheel”. He believes electric vehicles are not a replacement for traditional cars, but an addition. At the same time, Kadakov noted that electric vehicles still have a future in Russia. He noted that the price will especially affect the likelihood of their popularity developing.
“When a person is told: you will save money later and it will be cheaper to charge than gasoline, and maintenance will be cheaper, which of course is great, but now he has to spare a lot of money. And all electric vehicles are on average 30, 40, 50 percent more expensive than the same cars with gasoline engines,” the expert explained.
