However, not everyone knows how to properly organize transport so as not to damage the thing itself, the interior or the body of the car. Useful tips on good transport were shared by experts from the online platforms SberAvto and VseInstrumenty.ru.
Evaluate the car’s capabilities
Before loading the vehicle, it is important to properly distribute the weight of the load: this is important to avoid rapid fuel consumption, a shift in the center of gravity and loss of control. Each car model has its own weight limits, as indicated in the owner’s manual. You should not immediately take a large amount of building materials, garden tools and furniture with you, especially if there are passengers in the cabin.
It is best to carry small items that extend no more than 1-2 m in length and 40 cm in width beyond the vehicle. If the load is larger, it is considered bulky and must be marked with special signs and reflectors.
Don’t neglect security
It is worth being careful with furniture elements, as well as with large metal and plywood sheets: attached to the outside, they can create strong air resistance at high speed. And if boxes, shelves, bicycles obstruct the driver’s view and make driving difficult, then you need to change the position to a safer one or transport in a different way.
Pay attention to the specificities of cargo
Most things you need in the country are placed in the passenger compartment of a car. Garden tools are therefore best transported in a separate bag or container in the car; for seedlings and fertilizers it is good to use tall containers and separate resealable bags.
For building materials, it is better to allocate a separate place in the car or on the roof. Planks and plywood should be tied together with simple ropes or cables. Bulk and liquid materials should be stored in sealed containers. To maintain cleanliness, you need to put paper or old clothes in the cabin, and wrap the building materials themselves in foil.
Shelves, drawers, large objects are best wrapped in foil or pieces of cloth – so that they themselves are not scratched and do not damage the upholstery.
Don’t forget the handy accessories
These are: an organizer in the trunk (so things don’t scatter around the car); lashing straps (to secure the load), polypropylene shopping bag; cling film (you can wrap the sharp corners of things). A flannel blanket or a hard blanket also comes in handy during transport. So that things do not touch and do not rest on the interior details at sharp angles, they can be laid with a large hard blanket.
