Alexey Trunkin, Chairman of the Information Policy Committee of the Volgograd Administration, said: TASSOn the eve of Victory Day, road signs “Volgograd” at all main entrances to the hero city were temporarily changed to “Stalingrad” signs.

“On the eve of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, employees of municipal highway enterprises are placing signs with the inscription “Stalingrad” at all entrances to the city,” he said.

According to him, the signs at the entrance to the city on the bridge over the Volga River in the Dzerzhinsky district of Volgograd and at the exit of the highway in the Moscow direction have already been changed.

In 2013, the City Duma of Volgograd decided to temporarily change the name of Volgograd to Stalingrad on some memorable occasions, including May 9 – Victory Day.

Earlier, the head of the Volgograd City Veterans Council, Alexander Strukov, reported that the decision to hold a referendum on renaming Volgograd to Stalingrad was taken by the city’s authorities and residents. acceptable after the May holidays.
