Improper use of air conditioning in the car can lead to the onset or exacerbation of acute chronic diseases such as legionellosis and tonsillitis. Daria Bayutina, a general practitioner at the Medsi Clinic, spoke about this in an interview with socialbites.ca.
The interlocutor noted that if the air conditioning system is not maintained, it becomes a favorable environment for the reproduction of microorganisms.
“One of the most famous inhabitants of the air conditioner is Legionella pneumophila, whose inhalation can lead to the development of legionellosis, often complicated by severe atypical pneumonia,” said Daria Bayutina.
According to the expert, the air conditioner is a favorable environment for the reproduction of not only bacteria, but also fungal spores, which are considered allergens and can cause exacerbation of bronchial asthma.
The doctor also noted that the air conditioner can dry the air excessively, causing conjunctivitis, rhinitis, tonsillitis and other inflammatory diseases.
The expert recommended that drivers with cardiovascular disease should use the air conditioning system in the vehicle carefully.
“Under the influence of low temperature, the vessels narrow, which can cause an increase in blood pressure and vasospasm,” said the doctor.
In order not to catch a cold, it is necessary to avoid a large temperature difference between the temperature inside the car and outside the window. The optimal difference is 5-6 degrees,” Bayutina summed up.
Tatyana Surnenkova, formerly a doctor of functional diagnostics said “Gazette.ru” shows that the main signals that the driver is not getting enough sleep are constant yawning and frequent blinking.
