On the morning of May 2, on Nevsky Prospekt, traffic police stopped a Mercedes-Benz driven by 24-year-old Mansur Abdylkhasiev. Investigators found an object resembling a Kalashnikov assault rifle in the trunk of the car and confiscated it to be sent for examination.
In January 2023, Abdylkhasiev was found guilty of assaulting a police officer, was sentenced to a suspended one-and-a-half year prison sentence and was released from the courtroom. He also received a suspended sentence for shooting with a submachine gun on Moskovsky Prospekt in 2019.
Fontanka notes that later on his car, Lada Priora, was inscribed #nokhchiborz, meaning “Chechen Wolf.” According to the publication, Abdylkhaisiev worked as a legal assistant in a construction company, and the authorities spoke of him as an intelligent young man.
