Chinese automaker Chery is considering the possibility of starting car production in Russia. In this respect informs RIA Novosti, referring to Zhang Guibing, the head of the company.
“We never stopped thinking about the localization project – it is closely related to Chery’s strategic development in Russia. Chery International continues to explore opportunities and suggestions from its manufacturing facilities to select the best solution for this project. “We are considering different ways of cooperation: our own Chery factory, a factory on the basis of partnership,” said Zhang Guibing.
In addition, Chery plans to strengthen the brand’s presence in the Russian market with a lineup of cars with a hybrid power plant.
Previously reportedThat Chery has introduced a third-generation hybrid platform. More than 10 different sedans and crossovers are planned to be produced in the next two years, most of these cars will start appearing in Russia from 2024. Cars built on the new platform will accelerate from 30 to 70 km/h in 3 seconds, and the car will need 3.6 seconds to accelerate from 90 to 120 km/h. One of the innovations on the new platform was the flagship crossover Chery Tiggo 9 called C-DM.
