Russian car dealers are preparing a class action lawsuit to recover 1.5 billion rubles of debt from automaker Moskvich to Renault. In this respect informs “Prime”, with reference to Andrey Petrenko, vice president of the association “Russian Auto Dealers” (ROAD).
As Petrenko said, obligations to customers were distributed between AvtoVAZ as a supplier of spare parts and the Moskvich plant. Moskvich had to compensate for the after-sales service programs – the dealer does them at his own expense, and then the automaker compensates for it.
“When Renault left, he left 14 billion rubles to pay off debts, but something flew away. As a successor, Moskvich now owes its dealer network about 1.5 billion rubles. Petrenko, we want our voices to be heard, we will go to court,” he said.
According to ROAD’s vice president, dealers offered Renault management to discuss the situation and debt, but company representatives did not get in touch.
Renault transferred control of the Moscow plant to the Moscow government in May last year, after which the company returned to the historical name “Moskvich”.
