400 new fixed cameras have been installed on the roads in the Moscow region, informs newspaper “Kommersant”, referring to the regional Ministry of Transport. It is planned to install 200 more video recording systems by June 1, their total number will increase to 1.8 thousand pieces.

As department head Aleksey Gerzhik said, the new Azimuth-4 model complexes record 25 different types of violations, including talking on the phone while driving and not wearing a seat belt.

Cameras were installed on remote sections of regional and federal highways, for example, on the R-22 in Serebryanye Prudy, the M-10 in Klin, the western bypass of Sergiev Posad and the Yaroslavl highway.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2022 the number of traffic cameras used to rectify violations in Russia increased by 16.9% to 26.9 thousand (23.8 thousand of them fixed and 3.1 thousand mobile).
