In the city of Shymkent, in southern Kazakhstan, a driverless bus rolled downhill and hit pedestrians: four people were killed and two others were injured and taken to hospital. It has been reported DEA News.
In a press release from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, it is stated that the incident occurred on April 8 at around 18:30 (15:30 Moscow time). The publication claims that at the intersection of two streets in the Metro mall area, an uncontrolled bus entering the oncoming traffic lane hit six pedestrians on the sidewalk.
Two women and a teenager died at the scene, a girl died in hospital, two more in a medical facility.
Investigators found that the driver at the end of the route got off the bus and left it on the handbrake. Meanwhile, the bus rolled downhill and crashed into pedestrians.
