According to the publication, in January 2023, Siegfried Wolf sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin with an investment plan describing his plan to save the Russian auto industry. It is necessary to invest 60 billion rubles in the project.

According to the plan, together with GAZ, 270 thousand cars will be produced annually under the Volga brand in the Russian domestic market. To do this, it is necessary to include two enterprises, one of which is the Volkswagen plant located in Kaluga.

It was noted that Wolf is on the supervisory boards of the German auto parts manufacturer Schaeffler, as well as the Porsche SE automaker, which controls the Volkswagen AG automaker. Wolf served as a member of the GAZ Group Supervisory Board until the end of 2022.
