Torque converter automatic transmission (AKP) is disabled by pulling a car on a cable and with an intense speed set. This was told to socialbites.ca by Jan Haytseer, vice president of the National Automobile Association.
“In general, it is difficult to kill an automatic, but it should be borne in mind that this type of transmission does not like to press the gas sharply during intense acceleration. Towing a car with an automatic transmission with a cable can also lead to a breakdown of the transmission when the driver wants to save money on a tow truck, Heitzeer told socialbites.ca.
The expert also added that trying to pull another car out of the mud without using a so-called jolt cable could cause the automatic transmission to fail. He remembered that the situation when the driver changed the direction of movement so that the car came to a complete stop was disastrous for the machine.
“Many drivers don’t think about the need to brake, stop completely, and only then move the selector in the other direction,” Heitzeer concluded.
Former auto expert Sergey Shabunin said socialbites.ca signs indicating the need to repair the brake system.
